Abstract
Microwave breast cancer detection is based on the differences in electrical properties of malignant tumours and normal fatty tissues. Radar-based approaches involve interpreting information in ultra-wideband reflections from the breast. A key issue in the design of radar-based tumour detection systems is selection of a substance to couple the breast and antenna. Several liquids are compared and the benefits of selecting an oil-based immersion liquid are shown. Keywords
