Abstract
A study has been made of the lead zirconate-lead iron niobate-lead titanate system to locate ceramic compositions which possess good pyroelectric properties but in which the FR(lt) - FR(HT) transition has been eliminated. The results of this study are reported, together with an assessment of the effects of controlled, low-level (up to 1.0 mole %) additions of UO3 on the dielectric properties of selected compositions. The consequences of changing ceramic process parameters on the electrical and mechanical properties of a selected ceramic composition are discussed and related to the accompanying micro structural changes.
