The authors report the synthesis and modular behavior of a helicene derivative. The helicene compound reversibly undergoes two electron redox events that modulate the absorbance, emission, and circular dichroism of the compound. The bis-cation is also susceptible to solvatochromism which adds an additional input component to the system.
