Humanistic-outcomes questionnaires in diabetes research and practice

Abstract
The standards of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) on medical care in diabetes provide clear guidance about clinical outcomes.1 Other societies have their own diabetes recommendations and statements,2, 3 but all of them lack recommendations on how to measure humanistic outcomes in diabetes patients. During the past decade, a large diversity of humanistic-outcomes questionnaires was created.4 The lack of standard measures and scales makes it difficult to compare the results of different studies and practices.
