Role of DNA replication in the repression of silent mating type loci in yeast

Abstract
A putative origin of DNA replication is associated with the DNA sequences necessary for the repression of silent mating type loci in yeast. These sequences lie about a kilobase away from the affected promoters, so the repression must act at a distance. We show here that DNA replication is required for the onset of repression.Keywords
