Abstract
The most recent estimates of the burden of open-angle glaucoma (OAG)in the United States relied on limited data.1 Oneobstacle to obtaining accurate estimates is the lengthy examination proceduresneeded to identify individuals with glaucoma. Detecting glaucoma in eye diseaseprevalence surveys requires detailed evaluation of both the optic nerve headand the visual field. Fortunately, several recent major population-based surveyshave determined the prevalence of glaucoma using rigorous study designs.2-14Keywords
