Abstract
Radio frequency identification (RFID) has been introduced since the early 20th century. The IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) system used in the second World War has the same principle in order to identify the allied planes. In the 1980th the invention of the integrated circuit made possible the manufacturing of RFID tags with small size and affordable prices. In this work, we will give an overview of the RFID, its architecture, its applications, its advantages and drawbacks. This paper is structured as following, First, we will introduce the RFID communication system architecture and classifications. Then, we will list out its applications, drawbacks and advantages. Keywords
