The binding of copper(II) to mohair keratin

Abstract
Measurements of the uptake of copper(11) by the insoluble keratin, mohair, as a function of the copper(11) concentration and of the pH, between 3 and 6, are given. From these and other data on copper(11) uptake and its effects the conclusion is drawn that carboxyl groups are the primary, but not the sole sites of copper(11) binding in mohair keratin below pH 5.
