Narcotic maintenance for chronic pain

Abstract
Preview “A much-needed subject” was what one reviewer said after reading this article. The subject is a controversial one. Some authorities believe that narcotic maintenance for relief of chronic pain is justified only in instances of advanced malignancy. Dr Tennant and Professor Uelmen present some other circumstances in which they believe such a program is warranted, and they carefully outline the medical and legal precautions that must be observed by the physician responsible for treatment.
