The Equations of Motion of Charged Test Particles in General Relativity

Abstract

The Lorentz equations of motion without radiation damping are derived for charged test particles from the field equations, $R_{\mu \nu }-\frac{1}{2}{g}_{\mu \nu }R=T_{\mu \nu }$, of ordinary general relativity. No restriction is placed on the strength of the background gravitational and electromagnetic fields.
