A new approach to the study of the yeast flora associated with strawberry surfaces

Abstract

The yeast flora associated with the surface of strawberries has been studied on the assumption that individual cells are firmly embedded in gummy fruit-secretions. New techniques based on vigorous shaking or sonication of samples allowed the recovery of many yeast species normally not obtained previously with the traditional isolation procedures.
