Cold acclimatization of the fingers

Abstract

Serial finger-flexion and V-test estimations were carried out on five subjects engaged in a high-altitude mountaineering expedition. Exposure to cold conditions was from 35 to 62 days. There was no evidence that local acclimatization to cold occurred. This contrasts with recent experiments in Canada and Antarctica where local acclimatization could be demonstrated within 6 weeks of exposure.
