Abstract
Prolonged immobilization may result in hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, and osteoporosis. Although bone resorption is central to this syndrome, the mechanism of resorption is uncertain. In particular, the role of systemic calcium-regulating hormones remains unclear.Keywords
