Green Chemical Routes for the Synthesis of Lead-Free Ferroelectric Material 0.5Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3–0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3

Abstract
In this paper four alternative chemical routes for the synthesis of lead-free piezoelectric material 0.5Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3–0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 (BZT–0.5BCT) are reported, based on the use of environmental friendly, non-hazardous and non-toxic reagents. Clear and stable precursor solutions were successfully produced, and then powder samples of BZT–0.5BCT were synthesised via thermal treatment. The results of the characterization tests showed in all cases a pure and well-crystallized perovskite phase.
