Charge Distribution incDirection in Lamellar Graphite Acceptor Intercalation Compounds

Abstract
We calculate the charge distribution ρ(z) and Fermi-level distribution among the different graphite layers in a lamellar graphite acceptor compound. The charge distribution is highly nonhomogeneous and, because of the semimetallic nature of graphite, nonlinear effects are important. The calculations for ρ(z) are performed in terms of a generalized Thomas-Fermi model and show that there is a transition at short distances from the intercalate from a z4 power law to an exponential asymptotic decay.
