Diatomic oxide interstellar grains

Abstract
The formation of diatomic oxide grains in the interstellar medium is briefly discussed and the infrared properties of several oxide materials are presented. It is shown that SiO has a broad, featureless absorption profile centred at 9.6 μm while FeO has an absorption peak at 19 μm. A discussion of the wavelength dependence of polarization at 10 μm is also given.
