Abstract
OF all the different types of birds farmed commercially, veterinary surgeons in general practice are most likely to come across game birds, especially pheasants. Pheasants are reared each year to provide large numbers of birds for release into the wild, mostly for sport. This article describes the disease problems encountered during the management of adult pheasants used to produce fertile eggs for hatching artificially. It also discusses the implementation of some measures used to control these diseases.
