Abstract
The exact nature of parasitic cysteine protease activity is extremely important for understanding this most prevalent class of parasitic drug target in relation to the specificity of human cysteine proteases, and the present paper describes a distinct carboxypeptidase activity of cruzipain (Trypanosoma cruzi) and CPB 2.8 (Leishmania mexicana).
