Abstract
In this communication, a new technique-tapered H-shaped ground, is proposed to reduce the thickness of a magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna. By employing the proposed technique, the antenna height of the ME dipole antenna is reduced from 0.25 to 0.11 λ0 (where λ0 is the wavelength of 5.5 GHz). This new antenna structure can be easily realized by the multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) technology, which is low cost and easy to fabricate. Measured results show that this antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 18.74% for VSWR ≤ 2 (4.98 to 6.01 GHz). Stable radiation patterns with low back radiation and low cross polarization radiation are achieved across the entire operating bandwidth for 5G Wi-Fi.
