Abstract
A prediction equation for the effective population size in open nucleus breeding systems was derived, in terms of the cumulative effect of selection on gene frequency. Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to check the equation. From the results, it was found that the derived equation is applicable to most practical situations. Keywords
