Enzymatic methods for quantitative determination of acetoacetate and D-(-)-3-hydroxybutyrate in blood are described, which can be applied for routine analysis. Provisional normal values of these compounds and the ratio 3-hydroxybutyrate/acetoacetate were determined for healthy subjects and controlled diabetic patients.
