Abstract
GLC was employed to study the composition and concentration range of the indigenous fatty acids found in pecan [Carya illinoensis] involucre tissue which the pecan scab organism, C. caryigenum, comes in contact with during colonization. This range was 2-200 ppm. In general, at this concentration range, fatty acids had no effect on growth of the organism in vitro, but were inhibitory to sporulation. This inhibition increased with fatty acid concentration.
