A new genus and a new species of lanternflies of the subfamily Cladyphinae (Homoptera, Fulgoridae)

Abstract

Sclerodepsa granulosa gen. et sp. n., a new genus and a new species of lanternflies (Fulgoridae) of the subfamily Cladyphinae, is described from Brazil and Paraguay, based on the brachypterous adult and the 4th-instar larva (penultimate instar). Its relationship with Dichopterinae is confirmed, and its similarity to Issidae and Callscelldae is shown and discussed.
