Abstract
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) represents a complex syndrome with considerable morbidity and mortality, but recent advances in clinical care have improved outcomes. A few studies have reported the use of a conservative fluid strategy to decrease ventilator time in ARDS patients {1,2}. However, the results presented in this paper raise the possibility that a more restrictive fluid management strategy might be associated with cognitive dysfunction.
