Construct validity of recall and recognition postconditioning measures of awareness.

Abstract
Evaluated the construct validity of 4 postconditioning questionnaires using 120 adult Ss within the context of a masked GSR classical conditioning paradigm. A short recognition questionnaire was found to be a more valid and sensitive measure of awareness than short recall, long recall, or long recognition questionnaires. No evidence of unaware differential conditioning was obtained. However, due to inferential limitations associated with all postconditioning questionnaires, it is recommended that future research develop measures of awareness which can be obtained concurrently with the measures of conditioning.
