Abstract
One of the challenges facing enrollment managers is developing strategies to use merit financial aid awards to maximize student retention. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between high school grade point average, ACT scores, Stafford loan eligibility, total scholarship award, and persistence. Merit scholarship awards were found to affect retention positively. Keywords
