Abstract
A new mammal species for the Latvian fauna, Microtus subterraneus, was confirmed based on the fragment of mtDNA cytochrome b (730 bp). The specimen was trapped in the Gulbene district (in 2006) in a natural meadow bordering a forest and a regulated rivulet surrounded by shrubs and trees. Keywords
