Abstract
Masticatory loads are recorded with an intradental resistance wire strain gauge. Results show that in chewing soft foods the jaw muscles do not exert the very great forces of which previous static measurements have shown them to be capable. Preliminary expts. suggest that the clenching of the teeth during swallowing is not present in all swallowing patterns.Keywords
