Composition of the milk from the breasts of newly-born infants

Abstract
The compositions of 5 samples from infants 8-14 days old are given, total solids ranging from 7.4 to 12.5% consist mostly of protein and lactose. Compared with normal milk, lactose is low and protein and nonprotein N high and casein does not account for more than 50% of total N. The contents of peroxidase and phosphatase are high.
