Abstract
This paper presents a new control scheme for a regenerative AC/DC/AC converter using model based predictive control. The control strategy minimizes quality functions, which represent the desired behavior of the converter. At the inverter side, the load current error is minimized, while at the input side, the active and reactive powers are controlled directly. The main advantages of this method are: no need of linear current controllers, coordinates transformations or modulators for converter and inverter. The rectifier operates with sinusoidal input currents and unity power factor, while sinusoidal currents are generated out at the inverter load. Keywords
