Abstract
The overtone bands of the OH stretching mode of several crystals containing closed H bond network were obtained from the near infrared spectra in the region 3,000-12,000 cm-1. Semiquantitative analysis of the vibrational energy levels of the H bond in KH2PO4 confirmed that both inter- and intra-bond tunneling of the H bonded protons exist in these crystals. The breadth of the absorption bands (> 200 cm-1) can also be explained by the inter-bond tunneling. Keywords
