Abstract
Processes in which diffusivity depends on concentration (or temperature) according to a power law are discussed by a method which enables asymptotic formulae to be obtained easily, which leads to exact analytical solutions in a few cases, and which facilitates numerical analysis in other cases. The theory is relevant to the formation of metallic particles in a phase transformation, to the flow of a pseudo-plastic fluid, and to n-diffusion; previous work on these problems is extended.
