MAKING SPACE FOR THERAPEUTIC WORK WITH ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES

Abstract
This paper discusses our experiences of working with troubled adolescents in the context of a specialist multi‐disciplinary adolescent service that is part of a local CAMHS. We discuss our working practices and explore the importance of the idea of space, both mental and physical, when working with disturbed young people. We develop some different meanings of space through discussing some illustrative case examples. These focus on the importance of thinking space within the team and the development of therapeutic work.
