Ultra-violet photoelectron spectroscopy of adsorbed oxygen

Abstract
The adsorption of oxygen on W (100), W (110) and Ag (110) has been studied with ultra-violet photoelectron spectroscopy. The experimental difference spectra are interpreted phenomenologically, using data obtained from the application of other surface-sensitive techniques. The possible mechanisms for changes in emission from metal states, as well as the bearing of the results on the concept of the oxygen chemisorption bond are discussed.
