Abstract
SINCE Friedreich's original description1 of 6 cases of familial hereditary ataxia in 1863, numerous papers have been written on this subject. The vast majority of these elaborate on the neurologic and pathological features of the disease.There are few reports of cardiac manifestations in Friedreich's disease, and almost all of them have appeared in publications concerned primarily with the circulation; hence, it seems worth while to draw the attention of physicians in general to this aspect of the syndrome.
