Abstract
Recent developments in echocardiographic speckle tracking have enabled the quantification of myocardial deformation. In addition to technical barriers, recent research has identified differences in strain measurements between vendors, reflecting differences in myocardial tracking, and how speckle strain is calculated and displayed. In this context, a paper in this issue of the journal emphasizes similarity of global longitudinal (but not radial and circumferential strain) between two vendors. The implications of these findings for the clinical application of strain are discussed. Keywords
