Abstract
A study of some South American species of the moss genus Syntrichia (Pottiaceae) found the following: S. hosseusii is described as a new species; S. campestris and Tortula chubutensis are rescued from synonymy as a good species in Syntrichia; and a new trait in S. polylepidis is revealed.Keywords
