Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explicate the meaning of unitary from a historical perspective. The term was first used in ancient Greece, and its meaning has been transformed over time. The article explicates the similarities and differences among the nurse theorists who use the term unitary. It also specifies a different approach to healthcare when a unitary perspective of the human guides practice. Keywords
