Abstract
Spatial organization and recent dynamics of the agrarian uses of the soil in the Spanish Pyrénées. The management of the agrarian space of the Spanish Central Pyrénées has induced a quantitative and qualitative evolution during the present century. First it was reduced to less than one third of its historical surface. Second it has changed from a grain-producing agriculture oriented to match human needs to another one based on forage crops for cattle consumption. We try to explain this evolution in relation to the proper characteristics of the agrarian space and to the dynamics followed by the whole system of Pyrenean management of economy and space.
