Bend-optimised dispersion-shifted step-shaped-index (SSI) fibres

Abstract
The bending property of dispersion-shifted fibres with a step-shaped index profile has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. The bend-optimised step-shaped-type fibre has been achieved for a large mode field diameter of 8.6μm. It is then clarified that the dispersion controllability is better than for single-core-type dispersion-shifted fibres.
