Abstract
The effects of various crozier removal treatments (harvesting regimes) on long-term viability and vigor of ostrich fern crowns were examined in greenhouse pot studies. After four growing cycles, no negative effect on productivity was obtained when 4–8 croziers per crown were removed per cycle. The removal of 12 croziers per crown resulted in 40% plant mortality and reduced crozier production and size. Considerable variability in response existed among crowns.Key words: Matteuccia struthiopteris, harvesting regimes, crozier removal
