Abstract
This project develops a methodology for municipal solid waste (MSW) composition studies in the state of Florida. A technical advisory group (TAG) was formed and a public workshop organized to evaluate the suggestions and methodologies developed as a result of the project and to obtain relevant feedback. Thirty-six MSW studies previously conducted in Florida counties were evaluated and reviewed for compatibility with the national guidelines and consistency with other Florida counties. This information was utilized to produce statistics and a methodology specific to Florida. The methodology was then modeled into a knowledge-based system to guide future users and promote consistency in MSW composition studies in the state of Florida. A summary of the recommended methodology and results is provided. Keywords
