Abstract
The use of interlayer in explosive cladding process enhances the loss of kinetic energy (released from the detonation of chemical explosive). The loss of kinetic energy, if not controlled judiciously, leads to a defective explosive clad interface with the presence of brittle, as-cast molten layer. The influence of interlayer in explosive cladding of three dissimilar metal combinations (Aluminum-Low carbon steel, Copper-Stainless steel, and Aluminum-Copper) is discussed on the plinths of Triaxial Weldability Windows, microanalysis, and strengths of clad. It is concluded that the weldability domain is enhanced by the use of interlayer, and consequently, the litheness of the industrial exploitation of this joining process. Keywords
