Abstract
Most ophthalmologists would agree that fluorescein angiography has rapidly become an indispensable tool to the modern clinician. Since the technique was first described, less than 20 years ago, a tremendous amount of angiographic data has been accumulated, which has had a revolutionary impact on the understanding of fundus disease. Schatz, Burton, Yannuzzi, and Rabb have organized these voluminous data into a logical and retrievable form. The text is divided into two parts. In the first "introductory" section the authors do a fine job of briefly explaining the general principles of fluorescence and then correlate these principles with the histology and angiography of a normal eye. They then go into considerable depth on the actual mechanics of taking an angiogram, from sitting the patient down to adjusting the eye piece and injecting the dye.
