Abstract
In summer 1986 Stereobalanus canadensis, until now only known from the coast of Maine, was found on the Voring-Plateau in depths of 1252 to 1426 m. This is the first record of this species from the Norwegian Sea and from the deep-sea. Stereobalanus canadensis lives in very extensive, branched burrow systems down to 10 cm sediment depth. The ‘Lebensspuren’ are described and the possible effects on the sediment are discussed.
