Abstract
Due to the influence of traditional English teaching modes, the tourism English is facing some problems such as unsuitable teaching methods, obsolete teaching modes, single assessment mode, the traditional emphasis more on examination and less on professional competence training. The production-oriented Approach (POA) takes production as the beginning of teaching, and stimulates students’ learning motivation through production. Meanwhile, assessment plays an important role in the continuous production. POA constantly promotes tourism English teaching, which is in line with the characteristics of tourism English, including application, practice, specialty and comprehensiveness. Based on the related theory of POA, tourism English teaching can be built into a mixed teaching mode which is in line with its own development in the aspects of teaching objectives, teaching ideas, teaching implementation and teaching assessment and it pays attention to the cultivation of students’ professional practical competence.
