RISK FACTORS AND THE INCIDENCE OF HIPERTENSION IN PALEMBANG

Abstract
Background: The improvement of life expectancy contributed to the increasing of elderly people which giving impact to the disease trend from infection disease to degenerative one. In Indonesia, hypertension becomes a potensial problem. Aside from it high prevalence, also due to it complications like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, etc. The aim of this research was to analyzed hypertension risk factors. Methods: It was an analytic descriptive research with cross sectional approach on April until May 2015 Sampel had taken with multistage random sampling from population that meets inclusion criteria many as 390 people. Data were analyzed with chi square test and multiple logistic regression. Results: The results showed that hypertension risk factor on people of Palembang City was age (p=0,000; OR=6,55; 95% CI=3,17-13,52), family history (p=0,000; OR=4,60; 95% CI=2,70-7,83), smoking habits (p=0,020; OR=1,77; 95% CI=1,09-2,88), exercise practice(p=0,020; OR=1,77; 95% CI=1,09-2,88), and body mass index (p=0,002; OR=2,52; 95% CI=1,40-4,53) Conclusion: Hypertension prevalence in Palembang city year 2015 still high at 22,9%. The most dominant on hypertension risk faktor was age (OR=6,138) 6,1 times greater chance once in control of other variables. Keywords: Hypertension, risk factors, incidence of hipertension
