Summer daytime height profiles of O2(1Δ) concentration at Fort Churchill

Abstract
The height distribution of O2(1Δ) molecules was measured during the daytime by means of filter photometers flown to 95 km on Black Brant III rockets. The height distributions obtained show main peaks at 55 km (afternoon, solar elevation 18.2°) and at 59 km (morning, solar elevation 9.2°). The concentrations above 80 km show significant enhancements over those predicted from ozone photolysis on the basis of the ozone concentrations predicted by most previous theoretical models.
