Abstract
Project ECHO, pioneered by the University of New Mexico in the U.S., is a telehealth model that partners primary care providers (PCPs)/nurse practitioners (spokes) with specialists (hub) for providing complex and comprehensive care to patients with hepatitis C {1}. Following promising results {2}, the Department of Veterans Affairs introduced the Project ECHO model nationally in 2011. Here, they share their initial positive findings, with 21% of PCPs participating in at least 1 VA-ECHO undertaking treatment compared to only 2.5% among PCPs who did not attend ECHO.
