THE ELASTIC BEHAVIOUR OF A SUSPENSION OF SPHERICAL PARTICLES

Abstract

We consider a moderately concentrated suspension of many regularly-spaced spherical particles in an isotropic matrix, in order to improve on the known expressions of the elastic moduli of completely dilute suspensions. The Rayleigh anal between the linear elasticity of incompressible solids and the slow motion of viscous fluids allows specialization to the latter context, to obtain an extension of the Einstein formula.
